Andrew Bailey is one of the UK's leading nature and landscape photographers. He regularly wins prestigious awards from the Royal Photographic Society and other international organisations, and his work often appears in magazines and articles, for which it is marketed by Frank Lane Photographic Agency Images Of Nature. In 2006, his photograph of a kingfisher emerging from the water was used on the front cover of "Birds" magazine and his work has also been used by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the National Trust. His photograph Pheasant in Bluebells also won an award in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

Andrew is inspired by the British landscape, which is often underrated compared to more exotic locations. Many of his landscape photographs are taken in Suffolk, where he is now based, but he has also intensively photographed the Chilterns, a landscape of rolling hills, beech woods and chalk grassland where he lived for many years; the Lake District and the West Country. He particularly enjoys photographing the sea and is fascinated by the transient nature of the available images, which vary with different states of the tide and even from one wave to the next.

In order to further his ambition to photograph wildlife, Andrew moved to Suffolk in 2005 and bought a house with a large neglected garden, which he is now managing as a wildlife habitat. Many of his nature photographs are now taken in the garden. He also has a wide library of wildlife pictures taken in the beech wood and chalk stream habitat of the Chilterns. Andrew is passionate about light and the majority of his photographs are taken in the early morning or late evening when the angle of light is most interesting. He rarely uses flash photography, preferring to use reflectors and natural light, which makes photographing timid British Wildlife a painstaking process.

Andrew regularly lectures for photographic societies and wildlife groups and is always keen to share his passion with others. He is a superb technician, but also has a keen eye for a picture and coupled with his skill and patience, this enables him to capture and produce his dramatic and inspiring images of often-familiar subjects.

In 2006, Andrew opened a gallery at the Dedham Arts and Crafts centre, where he sells his photographs as framed or mounted prints, and due to the success of this venture it will be expanded in June 2007 to enable him to display a larger range of pictures.
